Winning leaders take risks and they learn from failure. They also encourage and recognize others for the risks they take—even when the project fails.

In this video, Tom Verdery, Executive in Residence for The Soderquist Center, shares the story of the most significant award he ever received: the failure award. Use this kit to start a discussion with your team about taking initiative and risks as well as learning from failure. These are important habits for great leaders and principles for a healthy team culture.

Take Risks. Learn from Failure. is part of the series Habits of a Winning Leader, a collection of Tom Verdery’s insights from his own personal experience and a career observing other great leaders.
